What We Do

Raise & Shine’s Family Empowerment Centers supports families experiencing disabilities by:

Helping you navigate the school system.
Providing you with family-center advocacy, practical and emotional support, referrals to services for you and your child, and helpful trainings.
Serving people with disabilities between the ages of 3 and 22 years old.

504 Plan

A 504 Plan is for people that have a physical or mental impairment.

The impairment must limit at least one major life activity.
504 Plans are for those who do not need special education services.
Parent involvement or consent is not required to get a 504 Plan.

Bilingual Family Consulting

Our Bilingual Family Consultants will help you to:

Understand Individualized Education Plans (IEP) or 504 Plans
Navigate the process or getting an education plan
Advocate for you in the school system.

Early Start Referrals

Early Start is an early intervention system that:

Offers services to eligible infants and toddlers who have or are at risk for developmental disabilities or delays.
Serves children 0 to 3 years old.

Individualized Education Plan (IEP)

An Individual Education Plan (IEP) is designed for people with various disabilities.

The disability must fit into one of the 13 categories recognized by the IDEA.
Parent or caretakers get to be a part of creating the child’s education plan.
They will work with the school and other health care providers to create the best plan for the child.

Mental Health and Wellness Skills

Some staff are trained in the Community Resiliency Model (CRM).

Parent Information

If your child is displaying challenging behavior at home and you would like some guidance, you can come to the office at 419 Talmage Road, Suite K, Ukiah and pick up a “Tip Sheet”. The sheets are created by the Triple P Positive Parenting Program. They will give you information and strategies for more a smooth parenting experience.
