Youth Activities!

Hello December 🍂

This month, we would like to highlight some community activities offered at the Coyote Valley Education Department for Tribal members of Coyote Valley Band of Pomo Indians. There are daily activities at the Education Center and Gymnasium at Coyote Valley. These activities are available to youth once academic assignments have been completed. Each week is focused on a particular theme that engages children in arts and crafts, painting, drawing, building, music, and other creative skills. The activities help youth stay engaged, build community connections, and allow children to have artistic expression. Many of the activities are brought to Coyote Valley because of the children’s interest and input. Children interested in recreational sports are able to do physical activity in the gymnasium with staff. This youth program keeps children engaged, allows children to pursue different skills and passions, and facilitates learning! Field trips are also provided when school scheduling permits. The majority of these trips are done when children are on breaks, giving them the opportunity to attend without interfering with their academic education. Some trips involve long-distance traveling and overnight stays which can be very exciting for children and foster child development and independence.
